Randonée 0.06 sirr 001 mCD 2001
(...) mysterious and sublime.

Insula Dulcamara Sirr013 CD 2004
Insula dulcamara is certainly one of the most musical electronica outings of recent times, and is strongly recommended.

Paulo Raposo's wonderful Sirr label is one of the most consistent founts of contemporary electroacoustic minimalism.
(boomkat)

The arrangements are never predictable and full of details and subtle movements, which makes the listening experience more rewarding each time I've put this disc in my player. Sounds great; let's keep our eyes and ears peeled.
(Richard di Santo, Incursion Music)

Raposo and Santos are playing with our ears, creating comfort zones where there should be none and turning highly familiar places into alien landscapes. Insula Dulcamara is an album of soft sound art. It is gentle on the ear and relatively easy to get into, yet it requires the listener full attention to stay in focus. Become distracted and it fades into the background and turns into an undifferentiated soundscape. Keep your listening eye on the music, scrutinize it and it reveals innumerable hues and shades, tells opaque stories and leaves you with the impression of having lived an enriching peaceful moment. The music is never suggestive enough to be cinematic, which turns out to be the album’s biggest strength.

Floating Point | GOS 003 | CD 2004
Frans de Waard (Vital Weekly)
over the course twenty nine minutes some carefully constructed pieces or maybe rather blocks of sound, pass by. The music can be best described as 'microsound', with careful clicks and cuts, cracking drones and more of that. (...) A good sturdy work.

vitriol | randonee | sirr 001 | cd 2001
Vitriol's work here is a surprising electronic soundscape with many shifts and nuances. Rich digital tones, sparse sounds, clicks and crackles mix with various found sounds, creating an atmosphere of digital detachment and distance. The arrangements are never predictable and full of details and subtle movements, which makes the listening experience more rewarding each time I've put this disc in my player. Sounds great; let's keep our eyes and ears peeled."
Richard di Santo, Incursion Music

"The crackle of digital glitches pop throughout extended glistening drones stretched out of organic scrapes, ending up sounding mysterious and sublime."

Hades w/ Marc Behrens And/Oar, CD 2006

HADES is based on sound recordings made aboard Lisbon ferries and at the quays of Cais do Sodré, Trafaria and Cacilhas 2001-2005. Both artists had initially set out to record independently, being fascinated with the sounds of the ship hull and landing gear, as well as with the actual passage on the river.During the course of the work which took three years to complete, some more precisely directed recordings were made together. Understanding the actual crossing as a symbolic passage, and once it was reduced to sound and memory, it became associated to the crossing of the mythicriver Styx to enter Hades, the ancient Greek underworld. reviews

Further Consequences of Reinterpretation w/ MBehrens Crónica008 CD2004
This CD is the product of a process that started with the CD 0.000 by the Japanese artist Nosei Sakata (*0), a CD which contains basically nothing (i.e. sound outside the human hearing range). The idea was to create everything from nothing, and taking a step furhter Raposo and Behrens used as hermeneutic map material from the reinterpretation pieces by Taylor Deupree, Hsi-Chuang Cheng, Aube, Richard Chartier, Akira Rabelais, John Hudak, Bernhard Günter and Steve Roden to construct a further reinterpretation.

Insula Dulcamara w/ Carlos Santos Sirr013 CD 2004
The sounds move quietly through fragmented landscapes of field recordings until only resonances and vibrations can be perceived. Transformation processes shift the focus from a documental approach to a highly mesmerizing tapestry merging several layers of attention by theeverchanging juxtaposition of architectural structures with open air observations to create a highly ever shifting but detailed sonic flow. Through an array of travelling sound notes, convoluted reverberating spaces recorded with binaural and piezo microphones, particular gestures areembroided in and against very different materials.

Randonée 0.06 c/o vitriol, sirr 001 mCD 2001

vitriol is the longstanding project of Paulo Raposo and Carlos Santos. Active since the early nineties in the field of electronic and improvised music, their work is characterized as abstract and detailed, organic and detached, focusing in a
delicate balance between the experience of space and its musical reorganizing qualities. 'Randonée 0.06' departs with a series of digital manipulative processes over soundfield recordings from familiar open spaces to create an intricate and organic soundscape, where coordinates?are erased and de-territorialized, leaving the listeners' perception?open to find his own (imaginary) intimate space.
